Right from the oven, these goodies had an irresistible aroma. We enjoyed them before dinner!

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Stir in the cheddar cheese and fresh herbs until evenly distributed.
Pour in the buttermilk and gently mix until just combined. Do not overmix; the dough should be sticky.
Using a large spoon, drop heaping spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown on top.
Remove from the oven and let cool slightly on a wire rack before serving warm.
Variations & Tips
For a touch of spice, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the dry ingredients. You can also experiment with different cheeses, such as Gruyere or Monterey Jack, for a unique flavor twist. If fresh herbs are not available, dried herbs can be used, though you’ll want to reduce the amount to avoid overwhelming the biscuits. For a more indulgent version, brush the tops with melted butter right after baking.
