PHILLY CHEESESTEAK SLOPPY JOES

Instructions

1. Cook the Vegetables

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet.

  2. Add onions and peppers; cook 4–5 minutes until softened.

  3. Add garlic and cook 1 minute more.

  4. Remove veggies from pan and set aside.

2. Brown the Beef

  1. Add the ground beef to the same skillet.

  2. Season with salt & pepper.

  3. Cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.

  4. Drain any excess fat.

3. Combine & Simmer

  1. Return veggies to the pan with the beef.

  2. Add Worcestershire sauce and beef broth.

  3. In a small bowl, mix cornstarch + water, then stir into the skillet.

  4. Simmer 3–5 minutes until slightly thickened and saucy.

4. Add the Cheese

  1. Lay slices of provolone over the hot beef mixture.

  2. Cover the skillet for 1–2 minutes until melted.

  3. Stir to create a creamy, cheesy mixture.

5. Serve

Spoon the cheesy beef mixture onto toasted buns.
Top with extra melted provolone if you want it extra gooey.

Tips

  • Use ground chicken or turkey for a lighter version.

  • Add mushrooms for classic cheesesteak flavor.

  • Toasting the buns keeps them from getting soggy.
