Instructions
1. Cook the Beef
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add olive oil.
Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon.
Drain excess fat if needed.
2. Sauté Veggies
Add onion and peppers to the skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes, until softened.
Stir in garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.
3. Make the Sauce
Add Worcestershire sauce, beef broth, and ketchup (if using).
Mix cornstarch with water to create a slurry, then stir it in.
Simmer for 3-4 minutes until the mixture thickens.
4. Add Cheese
Lay provolone slices over the mixture and let melt, or stir in shredded cheese.
Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.
5. Assemble
Toast hoagie rolls lightly.
Spoon the beef mixture onto rolls.
Serve hot with extra cheese on top if desired.
