Out-of-This-World Baked Beans

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish or use a Dutch oven.

Cook bacon & onion: In a skillet, cook bacon until crisp. Remove, crumble, and set aside. In 1–2 tablespoons of the bacon drippings, sauté the onion until softened and golden.

Mix beans: In a large bowl, combine baked beans, ketchup, brown sugar, molasses, mustard, Worcestershire, paprika, pepper, garlic powder, and cayenne. Stir in sautéed onion and most of the bacon (reserve some for topping).

Bake: Transfer mixture to prepared dish, sprinkle with reserved bacon, and bake uncovered for 1 hour, until bubbling and thickened.

Serve: Let cool slightly before serving. These beans taste even better the next day as the flavors deepen.
