Old-Fashioned Custard Pie

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven: to 350°F (175°C).

  2. Prepare crust: Place the pie crust in a 9-inch pie dish, trim and flute edges if desired.

  3. Mix custard filling: In a medium bowl, whisk eggs lightly. Add sugar, salt, milk, vanilla, and nutmeg. Whisk until smooth and well combined.

  4. Assemble: Pour custard mixture into the prepared pie crust.

  5. Bake: Place on the middle rack and bake for 35–45 minutes, or until the center is just set and a knife inserted near the center comes out clean.

  6. Cool: Allow the pie to cool completely on a wire rack. Sprinkle lightly with more nutmeg if desired.

  7. Chill: Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving for best texture.

Serving Tip:

Serve cold or at room temperature with a dollop of whipped cream or a sprinkle of cinnamon for extra coziness.
