Italian Meatloaf with Tomato Beef Sauce

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Meatloaf:

    • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

    • In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, milk, eggs, onion, garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and parsley.

    • Shape into a loaf and place it in a greased baking dish.

  2. Make the Tomato Beef Sauce:

    • In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.

    • Add onion and garlic, sauté until fragrant.

    • Stir in tomato sauce, tomato paste, sugar, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper.

    • Simmer for 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  3. Bake the Meatloaf:

    • Spoon half of the sauce over the meatloaf.

    • Bake for 50–60 minutes, basting with the remaining sauce halfway through.

    • Let rest 10 minutes before slicing.

  4. Serve:

    • Slice and serve with extra sauce on top.

    • Great with mashed potatoes, buttered pasta, or steamed green beans.


Tip: Add shredded mozzarella or provolone on top during the last 10 minutes of baking for a cheesy Italian finish! 🧀
