Instructions:
-
Preheat Oven:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or non-stick spray. -
Make the Cream Sauce:
-
In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
 -
Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 minute until bubbly (this forms a roux).
 -
Gradually whisk in the milk until smooth and thickened, about 3–5 minutes.
 -
Stir in cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Remove from heat once cheese melts.

 -
 -
Assemble the Dish:
-
Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the prepared dish.
 -
Top with half of the diced ham.
 -
Pour half of the cheese sauce over the top.
 -
Repeat with the remaining potatoes, ham, and sauce.
 -
Sprinkle extra cheese on top if desired.

 -
 -
Bake:
Cover with foil and bake for 40 minutes. Remove foil and bake another 20–25 minutes, until the top is golden and the potatoes are tender. -
Serve:
Let rest for 10 minutes before serving. Garnish with parsley if desired.
Tips:
-
For a richer flavor, add ½ cup grated Parmesan or 1 minced garlic clove to the sauce.
 -
You can prep it ahead — assemble the casserole, refrigerate, then bake before serving.
 -
Great for using holiday ham leftovers.
