Ground Beef Casserole

Instructions
Cook pasta:

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook pasta until just al dente. Drain and set aside.

Brown the beef:

In a large skillet over medium heat, drizzle a little olive oil.

Add ground beef and chopped onion. Cook until beef is browned and onion is tender, about 6–8 minutes.

Stir in garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Cook 1 more minute.

Drain any excess fat.

Add sauce:

Stir pasta sauce into the beef mixture. Simmer for 3–4 minutes to blend flavors.

Prepare creamy layer:

In a bowl, mix sour cream and ricotta cheese until smooth.

Assemble casserole:

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

Spread half the pasta/beef mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.

Spread the creamy mixture evenly over the first layer.

Add the remaining pasta/beef mixture on top.

Sprinkle shredded cheese evenly over the top.

Bake:

Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes.

Remove foil and bake an additional 10–15 minutes, until cheese is melted and bubbly.

Serve:

Let it sit 5 minutes before serving for cleaner slices.

Tips & Variations:

Add veggies like spinach, mushrooms, or bell peppers for more color and nutrition.

Swap beef for ground turkey or sausage for a flavor twist.

Use pepper jack or smoked gouda for a bolder cheesy layer.
