Instructions
Heat the oil:
Pour about 2 inches of oil into a deep skillet or saucepan.
Heat over medium heat to 350°F (175°C).
Make the batter:
In a bowl, whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
In another bowl, whisk milk, egg, and vanilla until smooth.
Pour wet ingredients into dry, whisking just until combined (batter will be slightly thick).
Fry the bites:
Use a small cookie scoop or tablespoon to drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil.
Fry 1–2 minutes per side, until golden brown.
Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
Serve:
Dust generously with powdered sugar while warm.
Serve immediately for best texture.
Tip: For a flavor twist, drizzle with chocolate sauce, caramel, or even a berry coulis before serving.
