Instructions
Mix dry ingredients:
In a large microwave-safe mug, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
Add wet ingredients:
Stir in the milk, oil (or butter), and vanilla until smooth and lump-free.
Add chocolate chips:
Fold in chocolate chips if desired for extra gooeyness.
Microwave:
Cook in the microwave for 1 minute to 1 minute 20 seconds, depending on your microwave’s power. The cake should rise and look set but still soft in the center.
Cool slightly & serve:
Let it rest for a minute before eating. Serve as is or top with whipped cream, ice cream, or a drizzle of chocolate syrup.
Tips
Don’t overcook — it continues to cook as it cools.
For a molten center, slightly undercook by 10–15 seconds.
Add a pinch of instant coffee for a richer chocolate flavor.
