Cheesy Ground Beef Empanadas

These empanadas combine flavorful ground beef, spices, and melty cheese wrapped in a crispy pastry shell. They’re easy to make and always a hit at gatherings.

Ingredients

1 lb (450 g) ground beef

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 small onion, finely diced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon cumin

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

½ teaspoon chili powder (optional for heat)

½ teaspoon oregano

Salt and pepper, to taste

½ cup tomato sauce (or canned diced tomatoes, drained)

1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a blend)

1 package empanada dough discs (store-bought or homemade)

1 egg (for egg wash)
