Bangers & Mash (Sausage with Onion Gravy)

Instructions

1. Make the mashed potatoes

  1. Boil potatoes in salted water for 12–15 minutes or until tender.

  2. Drain, then mash with butter and milk/cream.

  3. Add salt and pepper to taste.

  4. Set aside.


2. Cook the sausages

  1. Heat oil/butter in a skillet over medium.

  2. Add sausages and cook 10–12 minutes, turning until browned and cooked through.

  3. Remove and keep warm.


3. Make the onion gravy

  1. In the same skillet, melt butter.

  2. Add sliced onions and cook until caramelized (8–10 minutes).

  3. Add garlic and cook 1 minute.

  4. Sprinkle in flour and stir for 1 minute.

  5. Slowly pour in beef broth while stirring.

  6. Add Worcestershire sauce and thyme.

  7. Simmer 5–7 minutes until thick and glossy.

  8. Season with salt and pepper.


4. Assemble

  • Scoop mashed potatoes onto a plate.

  • Add sausages on top.

  • Pour hot onion gravy generously over everything.


Serve With

  • Peas

  • Steamed green beans

  • Roasted carrots
