Prepare the Batter:
In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, pepper, sugar, and paprika. In a separate bowl, whisk together milk and egg, then add to the dry mixture. Stir until smooth. -
Add the Onions:
Fold the sliced onions into the batter until well coated. -
Fry the Fritters:
Heat about ½ inch of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Drop spoonfuls of the onion mixture into the oil, flattening slightly. Fry until golden brown — about 2–3 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels. -
Make the Chive Dip:
In a small bowl, combine sour cream, mayonnaise, lemon juice, chives, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well and chill for 15 minutes. -
Serve:
Serve fritters warm with chilled chive dip on the side.
