Wet Burritos
Description:
A comforting Tex-Mex classic, wet burritos are large flour tortillas stuffed with seasoned meat, beans, and cheese, then smothered with a rich enchilada-style sauce and baked until hot and bubbly. Perfect for a hearty family dinner or weekend treat.
Ingredients (Serves 4):
For the Filling:
1 lb ground beef (or shredded chicken, or ground turkey)
1 small onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp chili powder
1/2 tsp paprika
Salt & pepper to taste
1 cup refried beans (or whole cooked pinto beans)
1 cup cooked rice (optional)
1 cup shredded cheddar or Mexican blend cheese
For the Sauce:
2 cups red enchilada sauce (homemade or canned)
1 cup tomato sauce
1/2 tsp oregano
1/2 tsp chili powder
1/4 tsp sugar (optional, to balance acidity)
For Assembly:
4 large flour tortillas (burrito-size)
1–2 cups shredded cheese (for topping)
Chopped lettuce, diced tomatoes, sour cream, guacamole, and sliced jalapeños (for serving)
